Sunnyvale School District had the honor of partnering with the City of Sunnyvale and Sunnyvale Community Services to host Santa Clara County Office of Education’s North County Resource Fair to Sunnyvale!
The fair is designed to give under-served youth and their families the opportunity to access needed resources to help children thrive in school. Children were able to receive mini health checks (such as height and weight measurements, and dental and vision screenings), as well as items to help them succeed in the classroom, such as school supplies and backpacks.
The event was primarily focused on un-housed and foster youth, but it was open to all. Families were able to connect with local resources that could help them with financial assistance and other benefits and resources they may need to stay stably housed and keep their families fed.
Our participation in the resource fair is consistent with our belief that by helping to mitigate barriers to learning, such as lack of access to basic necessities like food and housing, we can help create more equitable learning outcomes for our students.
