Over $300,000 in grant funding from the State Public Utilities Commission’s will advance a joint venture with the City of Sunnyvale. The funding will provide 650 families with digital literacy training, access to Internet-ready devices and low-cost broadband internet services. Qualifying school sites include Bishop, Columbia, Ellis, Lakewood, San Miguel, and Vargas. The program launch will be on a rolling schedule with the first training session tentatively scheduled for late Spring 2019. The Sunnyvale City Council accepted the grant award at its January 29 meeting and at that time requested staff explore a similar program for low-income seniors.
