Administrators and board members celebrated the recognition of the District’s Outstanding Educator of the Year, Eric Panosian, at the 54th annual Murphy Awards held on Feb. 23 by the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Panosian was recognized for his 18 years of administrative experience in the Sunnyvale School District. It is with great honor and pride that we celebrate Mr. Panosian. Colleagues say it is his balanced perspective, his sense of humor, and his commitment to doing what’s right for students that make him an outstanding educator and leader.
As site administrator at Ellis Elementary School since 2012, Mr.. Panosian set the school on a path to transform Language Arts instruction. He supported this vision through focused allocation of resources (for professional development, classroom libraries, reading celebrations, publishing parties, etc.) and personnel and has provided significant opportunities for members of the community to learn more about the vision and the steps the school is taking to attain that vision. All work at the school is done with the aim of improving student achievement.
Students and staff alike recognize his support of their work when, for example, he shows up to reading celebrations and publishing parties to make sure that all students feel valued and supported, even if a family member is not available to attend.
Congratulations Mr. Panosian!
The Murphy Awards are given in celebration of Sunnyvale’s founder, Martin Murphy, Jr. The awards celebrate Sunnyvale business and community accomplishments that make the city a global leader in technology, innovation, and community spirit.
