Lakewood and Fairwood Elementary Schools have a fun tradition of an annual basketball competition. After months of practice after school or at recess with their home team, 4th and 5th graders from each school compete in two games – one at each school in May. Students from the guest school walk over with their team to cheer them on at this fun event, and home team classes join them to line the courts with fans. This tradition is a fun way for upper graders to connect, along with science camp, before joining each other at CMS for middle school. We also get together at the end of the year for a 5th grade Science Camp reunion picnic.
