San Miguel first graders design and sell greeting cards to benefit schools affected by the Camp Fire

First grade students at San Miguel designed 37 different greeting cards for all occasions, many of which were bilingual, and hosted a greeting card sale the morning of Feb. 1 in the school cafeteria! All cards were $3 and the students decided that proceeds from the sale will go to the schools affected by the Camp Fire in Paradise.

Students made over $500 for the Butte County School Fire Relief Fund on the actual day of the sale and have placed an order for more cards so they’re predicting another $300-450 donation after the next round of sales!

Students made Valentine’s, Thinking of You, Thank You, Mothers/Fathers Day, Halloween, Get Well, Christmas and Birthday cards.

“We were excited to invite district staff in addition to San Miguel and Sunnyvale community members,” said San Miguel first grade teacher Grace Chiarella. “The students worked hard on this project for several weeks and we wanted to show them a lot of support for their work and commitment to helping others in need!”
