The SMS Drama class, which only meets 1st period, has been working since October on The Little Mermaid production. They learned choreography and song lyrics, worked on timing and line memorization, and really put their heart and souls into this play. A grandmother of a former Drama student worked on thrifting and sewing costumes for the production; Jeff Whited, a retired woodshop teacher, helped build sets; Drama students spent countless hours during Academic Support Time (AST) working on painting sets; Mr. Ancheta’s orchestra accompanied parts of the play and Caryn Shreve, one of our math teachers, spent weeks working on lighting and sound. Cherry Chase was gracious enough to share their mics, and we were able to mic 20 cast members this year! Over 600 people attended the performances last month. I am beyond happy with how it turned out and am grateful for all of the hard work! It was a beautiful production!
