Evelyn has been a Registered Nurse for over 24 years, where she started in the NICU and Mother/Baby. She has worked as a Diabetic Educator for over 15 years and currently works in weight management and aesthetics. She also helps to establish policies and procedures at her workplace. In her community, Evelyn has served as the Religious Education Office Assistant for Our Lady of Peace Church. She recently joined her neighborhood association to help on their board. Evelyn is passionate about advocating for not only her family and patients, but also for other families and the community.
Evelyn truly believes that all children are equal and deserving of the same education and access to extracurricular activities, regardless of color, race, or family’s economic status. She’s helped with fundraising for students who need financial assistance to participate in overnight trips and school activities. In addition, Evelyn loves getting the community together. She helped to organize the Fit & Fun Fair with CMS and the City of Sunnyvale, which promoted health and wellness for the community through carnival games and info booths. She loves to spend time with family and travel. Evelyn was recognized as the CMS Volunteer of the Year at the Board of Education meeting in 2019.
A vacancy on the Board was created by the resignation of Board Member Eileen Le, which became effective January 7, 2025 before taking her seat on the Sunnyvale City Council.
Profeta took the Oath of Office at the Feb. 25 board meeting. The appointment will run until December 2026.
A total of five information sessions were held for interested candidates. Information Sessions at the District Office were held on Jan. 23 and Jan. 28. Additional Information Sessions were held on Feb. 4 at Lakewood, Feb. 6 at Fairwood, and Feb. 7 at Columbia. A total of four candidates applied. We’d like to thank everyone for their interest and encourage all Sunnyvale residents to continue to be involved with their local schools.
The Sunnyvale School District extends our sincere gratitude for Eileen Le’s two years of dedicated service on the School Board. We deeply appreciate your commitment to our students and recognize and value your contributions to ensuring high-quality education, expanding student resources, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. We are pleased to know that your commitment to Sunnyvale’s children and families will continue through your role on the City Council. We wish you all the best and thank you for your partnership.
The appointment will become final in 30 days unless a petition is filed with the Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools requesting an election, in which case a special election will be called to fill the vacancy.
