San Miguel kids from preschool on up have been a little bit warmer this winter, thanks to gifts of nearly 450 new coats from Operation Warm.

On January 20, San Miguel elementary students attended an event in the multi-purpose room where they were invited to select their own coat. School social worker Gladys Mazariegos, LCSW said kids were excited to have brand-new warm coats and loved that they could match with their friends. Students in San Miguel’s preschool received their new coats in a separate event.

Operation Warm is a non-profit organization that partners with corporations and community groups to provide coats and shoes to children in need. Through its donations, the agency aims to provide warmth, confidence, and hope to children in Title 1 schools and other human services programs. A generous local company partnered with Operation Warm to make the San Miguel donation possible.
