About SSD
Sunnyvale School District (SSD) is a high-performing school district the heart of the Santa Clara Valley. Located in the northwestern corner of Santa Clara County, the area is home to many of the largest and most progressive technology companies and is often referred to as “Silicon Valley.” About two thirds of the K-8 students who live in the City of Sunnyvale are within the boundaries of the Sunnyvale School District. The District operates two preschools, eight elementary schools (serving students from kindergarten through fifth grade) and two middle schools (serving students in grades six, seven, and eight).
The District has experienced steady enrollment growth over the past few years and this trend is expected to continue. Fall 2011 opening enrollment for K-8 is 6651 students. Adding in 189 preschool students brings the district total enrollment to 6840 students.
