From Easels to Empathy: Alpha Delta Kappa Funds Diverse Classroom Projects in Sunnyvale

ADK grants 2025

Earlier this spring, the Sunnyvale Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) was pleased to fund a number of cash mini-grants to classroom teachers in SSD.  The mini-grants grants are open to all teachers in the district at all grade levels. This year, we funded a total of 16 proposals, some for individual teachers and others for groups of teachers who chose to collaborate together on a project. The projects were wide-ranging, unique, and tailored to the individual classroom needs. We were able to support projects ranging from outdoor art easels and sensory trays, classroom books to help support students with their social emotional learning and content knowledge, art supplies, classroom playground equipment, materials to teach about plant and animal life cycles, graphic novels, letter tiles, and materials to support collaboration between middle school neurodiverse and neurotypical students. We impacted a total of 23 teachers from preschool through 8th grade and around 700 students this year.

ADK is an international organization of women educators dedicated to world understanding, educational excellence, and altruism and the Sunnyvale chapter consists of many retired SSD teachers. The Alpha Lambda chapter is proud of our positive impact on students and teachers through sponsorship of mini-grants in the district for many years.
