Cherry Chase Elementary School was recognized by the California State Department of Education as an honoree in its 2025 California Distinguished Schools Program. This is an honor reserved for schools demonstrating exemplary student growth or learning success.
Eighty-two percent of Cherry Chase students scored at or above the proficient level in math and reading scores, signifying the exceptional student achievement that earned them the Distinguished School award.
Sunnyvale’s Chief Teaching and Learning Officer Tasha Dean noted, “This is a testament, not only to Cherry Chase’s commitment to excellence, but to the school community’s spirit of inclusivity that is evident from its annual lunar new year celebration to its engaged family volunteers. Robust enrichment programs like art and music complement the school’s strong academic focus. It’s an honor that is well-deserved.”
