Twenty-two girls from Bishop Elementary went to a Stanford University women’s basketball game on February 11 thanks to the Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI).
BAWSI’s programs help children develop a love of physical activity, build self-esteem, and embrace positive attitudes and healthy behaviors that will help them thrive on the playground, in school, and in life.
When the girls arrived at the Stanford University Pavilion, they participated in a basketball clinic with the Stanford women athletes and finished the activity with a nice bag lunch that was provided for them.
The girls were excited to see the women’s Stanford basketball team play against the Colorado Buffaloes, and watched Stanford win!
The Sunnyvale School District would like to give a special thank you to the Stanford women’s basketball coach, Tara VanDerveer, her staff and the Stanford women’s basketball team for making this day possible for the 22 BAWSI girls and families who attended the event.
