Building a Brighter Future: A Look at Our Strategic Plan Progress

Full Strategic Plan Goals

At our district, we work to help students become critical thinkers, strong communicators, effective collaborators, and resilient and healthy lifelong learners.

To realize that vision, we work toward the four goals identified in our Strategic Plan:

  1. Creating an inclusive and nurturing environment
  2. Providing all students with equitable growth opportunities
  3. Students demonstrating responsibility for their learning
  4. Students achieving mastery of core content areas

Our leadership team regularly reports to the Board of Trustees on the district’s actions and progress toward these goals. Below are the three main areas that we are focused on influencing with our strategic plan.

At a recent meeting, the team noted that student success is influenced first by the classroom teacher and then by the school’s principal. This reinforces the importance of continually strengthening our instructional practices in alignment with our strategic goals. The district has been increasing teacher support through instructional coaching, more classroom observation time for principals, and greater opportunities for teachers to learn from one another.

Positive, attentive classroom engagement and consistent school attendance continue to be essential to student learning, so the district prioritizes family support, providing helpful information and community resources if needed, and in-school student interventions that help children stay on track and achieve desired growth.

Finally, students with special needs spend more time in the general education setting with typically developing peers. While at our district, children with special needs follow a developmental learning pathway from preschool through eighth grade, designed to help them learn life and job skills, access scaffolded grade-level state standards and receive a range of individualized supports as they work toward their learning goals.
