With Spring sports season in full swing, it’s a great time to learn more about how to keep your child safe and healthy when participating in P.E. and extracurricular sports programs.  SMS PTSA will present a parent education program, “Exercise, Nutrition and Sports Conditioning for Your Growing Teen”, on Tuesday, April 24th, 7:30-8:30pm, in the Sunnyvale Middle School Multi-Purpose Room, 1080 Mango Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA.

The expert panel will include several Sunnyvale Middle School P.E. teachers/after-school sports coaches, registered dietician Anna Lague and Jesse Free, Fellow/Athletic Trainer at Stanford University. Jesse is currently a liaison between the Stanford Softball and Football teams and a Stanford-led research study into concussion management and return to play – of particular interest to parents whose children play contact sports.

The panel will offer tips and best practices for sports and exercise conditioning, review the dangers of over and under-conditioning and provide guidance for proper nutrition to fuel growing pre-teen and teenage bodies. Ample time will be provided for audience Q&A. The event is open to the public and there is no need to RSVP, just show up!
