Vargas scientists and their families packed the cafeteria, walking around with their freshly made slime and calming jars. Student volunteers from the Homestead High School National Honor Society manned the tables as students and their families made different versions of slime and experimented with Oobleck. Adding a component of social-emotional learning to the evening, students were able to design and build their own glitter filled calming jars. Students were able to leave the event with their slime and a calming jar for use at home. Science Coach Heather Willhalm commented, “It is always so great to see families engage in hands-on science together, but this night was really inspiring with the huge turnout we had.”
