Spansion Sunnyvale Donates Over 1500 Backpacks

WOW-Project---Donation-Day-015

Spansion, Inc., in Sunnyvale, recently completed W.O.W. (Wipe Out Waste), a 10-week recycling and collection project. This project was designed to clean up empty cubes and common areas as well as consolidate office supplies to reduce unnecessary ordering. The organized collection allowed the project team to systematically go through over 20 pallets of items.

With help from the W.O.W. project, Spansion Sunnyvale donated over 1500 backpacks and other school supplies to the Sunnyvale School District and Sunnyvale Community Services Backpack Drive. Spansion volunteers met with district and community services representatives to walk them through the collection storage area and give them an opportunity to select items that were needed. In addition to the backpacks, the representatives selected pens, pencils, chairs, file cabinets, white boards, keyboards and mice, file folders, paper cutters and much more. The items were distributed to the community through Sunnyvale Community Services.

Dr. Benjamin Picard, Superintendent of Schools, and Marie Bernard, Community Services Executive Director, were welcomed by John Kispert, CEO, and Glenda Dorchak, Executive VP/Global Business, of Spansion when they arrived to personally oversee the donation collection and show their appreciation of Spansion’s continued efforts to provide the extra support necessary to give Sunnyvale’s children the tools they need to succeed.
