Every December, the Board of Education holds its annual organizational meeting where they designate who serves as president, vice president, and clerk for the new year.
For 2025, the board president is Bridget Watson, the vice president is Peggy Shen Brewster, and the clerk is Michelle Maginot.
As board president, Bridget Watson is responsible for:
- running all open and closed session meetings of the board following the Brown Act and Board policies
- acting as a spokesperson for the board
- participating in the California School Board Association’s President workshop
- coordinating board development activities
- conducting annual board self-evaluation
- speaking at promotion ceremonies
- attending community events, among other responsibilities
As board vice president, Peggy Shen Brewster is responsible for:
- running meetings in the absence of the president
- serving as spokesperson in the absence of the president
- performing tasks as delegated by the president
- recognizing the outgoing president and members of the board
- speaking at promotion, among other responsibilities
As board clerk, Michelle Maginot is responsible for:
- serving in the absence of the president and vice president
- signing all paperwork including resolutions, minutes, and other documents necessary to carry out state requirements and the will of the Board
- notifying Board members and members-elect of the date and time for the annual organizational meeting
