During the month of January, first-grade students participated in our 2nd Annual Read Aloud Event with the Sunnyvale Rotary Club. It was a time of fun-filled community engagement as Rotarians visited each of the district’s elementary schools to read the bilingual picture book entitled Paletero Man by Lucky Diaz.
Mirroring the mission of the Rotary Club, the book is a celebration of kindness, community, and caring. Paletero Man honors the Latinx culture highlighting the role that paleteros play in creating an important shared experience and sense of tradition within diverse communities.
Each first grader received their own copy of the book at the conclusion of the read-aloud event. We appreciate the Rotary Club and thank them for sharing and spreading joy with our school community!
