Kevin Cuevas, a fourth-grader at Bishop Elementary School, walks across the blacktop with a pep in his step and a beaming smile.
And it’s not even recess.
He’s getting ready to learn with his reading partner, Sunnyvale Police Chief Frank Grgurina.
Once a week for 45 minutes, Grgurina volunteers his time to help 9-year-old Kevin read through a Reading Partners program.
