The Sunnyvale School District Board, honoring the request of the Santa Clara County Board of Education and the County Superintendent of Schools, has passed a resolution to support the “My Vote Our Future” Project, a grassroots campaign organized by Parents for Great Education (http://parentsforgreateducation.org/) and De Anza College Institute for Community and Civic Engagement.
My Vote Out Future (http://myvoteourfuture.org/) has the support of the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters and the project focuses on reaching out to traditionally underrepresented communities in Santa Clara County: 18-24-year-olds, immigrants, seniors, and low income populations. The scope of the work will include voter education, voter registration, and get-out-the-vote efforts for the upcoming June election.
In support of this voter engagement effort, Sunnyvale School District will have voter registration cards at all its school offices. In addition, the district will set up an election corner on the Sunnyvale School District website where visitors will find links to useful, non-partisan information on various initiatives on the ballot.
In order to vote at the California June 5, 2012 Presidential Primary Election, voter registration must be postmarked no later than May 21, 2012. For more information and to download a registration form, go to: http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm.
