The modernization of Sunnyvale Middle School continues to make progress! We’re in the final stretch of our new two-story classroom building for our 7th- and 8th-grade students. We constructed this new building on an accelerated schedule to maximize impact and minimize disruption, exemplifying our commitment to delivering high-quality learning environments quickly and efficiently.
Immediately following the completion of the two-story classroom project, we will begin the next phase of the SMS campus modernization with trenching and utility preparations, followed by the demolition of three aging classroom buildings and the library in the fall. The full modernization will span 2–3 years and will significantly transform the campus for our students, staff, and community.
Meanwhile, we’re making major campus-wide sustainability and modernization upgrades at Cumberland Elementary. The project includes replacing gas-powered HVAC units with all-electric systems, upgrading fluorescent lighting to high-efficiency LED fixtures, installing new carpeting, and repainting the exterior buildings, improving both energy performance and campus aesthetics.
At Cherry Chase Elementary, we are removing the aging covered walkway canopy and installing a new, durable metal structure. As part of this project, we’ll also underground currently exposed electrical conduits to improve both site functionality and visual appeal. This upgrade enhances safety and brings a cleaner, more modern look to the campus.
