With the goal of building a relationship with the Sunnyvale community and promoting literacy, Sunnyvale Education Association (SEA) started a book giveaway in March 2013.
Once a month, teachers volunteer their time to hand out books at the Sunnyvale Farmer’s Market. The idea of “recycling reading” is to choose a book (or books) one month and exchange it for others the next month.
We need your help! SEA relies on community donations of new and used books in order to be successful. The books may be any level from preschool to adult. Books may be dropped at the SEA office, 525 W. Remington Dr. # 102 or you may make arrangements for them to be picked up by emailing sea_president@yahoo.com. There is also a book box at each school site as well as the district office for book drop off.
This academic year, schools will be choosing a month where they will be in charge of obtaining volunteers as well as have the opportunity to showcase the wonderful happenings at their site.
Volunteers are welcome at any time! If you are interested, please let us know by emailing or calling our office at 408-245-0624.
Currently, SEA is scheduled to be at the Sunnyvale Farmer’s Market the 3rd Saturday of every month. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
