SSD expands early education

Ribbon cutting at new preschool locations

Newest preschool students welcomedSunnyvale Preschool Programs eagerly welcomed an additional 44 students at two new locations for our state-subsidized preschool program on April 17th. The current program, which served 96 eligible families with free half-day preschool programs, had a waiting list of families wishing to join. Sunnyvale School District was able to expand its current program after applying to the state. Lakewood and San Miguel Elementary are now home to the new preschool classrooms. Our newest classroom prioritizes students with identified needs who meet the state income requirements. In addition to these programs, Sunnyvale School District runs intervention programs and serves more than 230 students.

Social-emotional development, academic readiness, and family engagement are provided to our preschool families. The long-term benefits of early exposure to a high-quality preschool program provide students with a head start as they enter Sunnyvale School District’s kindergarten programs.

The preschool is enrolling now for the 2017-18 school year! Please contact: Yesiel Petillo at 408-522-8213 or visit our Preschool Office at Lakewood Elementary, 750 Lakechime Drive, Sunnyvale CA 94089. You may visit the website at https://ca01902799.schoolwires.net/site/Default.aspx?PageID=83.
