Administrators and board members celebrated the recognition of the District’s Outstanding Educator of the Year, Jonathan Watts, at the annual Murphy Awards held on Feb. 20 by the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Watts has been making a difference in Sunnyvale schools for the past 6 years. He transitioned from being a classroom teacher to his current role as an Instructional Coach a little over a year ago.
It is largely due to his coaching efforts that our district’s 1:1 technology initiative has been met with resounding success and our students are truly engaged in 21st century learning. He provides direct support to staff with district software programs and runs the Student Technology Leadership after school class.

The reason for his success is his in depth knowledge of technology coupled with content, and his approachable manner with teachers.
Jonathan makes it accessible for teachers and enjoyable and motivating for kids. Teachers find him knowledgeable, respectful of their practice and always willing to help. Congratulations Mr. Watts!
The Murphy Awards are in celebration of Sunnyvale’s founder, Martin Murphy Jr. The awards celebrate Sunnyvale business and community accomplishments that makes the city the global leaders in technology, innovation, and community spirit.
