Ellis Elementary School Students Shine in “Mathletics”

Each year, since 2003, the Oakland A’s have designed and distributed thousands of “Mathletics” workbooks which utilize simple formulas for calculating statistics of A’s players to students in hopes to promote the importance of math among Bay Area youth, grades 1-8. This year Ellis students, grades 1-5, with encouragement from teachers and parents, all participated. The answer sheets were collected and submitted to the Oakland A’s for scoring. All correctly submitted score sheets earned two ticket vouchers to an Oakland A’s baseball game. The “Mathletics” program is sponsored by Ross Dress For Less and Comcast SportsNet California.

Out of 830 students, there were 176 that received two vouchers each to see the A’s play, one for themselves and one for a parent/guardian. Way to shine Ellis students!
