After a little more than a year of construction work, renovations at Lakewood Elementary School are complete, on time and with new features. The completion of the roughly $18 million worth of campus improvements was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 17 at the school.
The approximately 14 months of work included numerous campus updates like 11 new classrooms to replace some of the school’s portable classrooms and 21 updated classrooms. A new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system was also installed. Many of the classrooms did not have air conditioning.
The school also has new classroom technology throughout the campus with upgraded Internet bandwidth, mounted projectors, and Apple TVs in each classroom. Outside the classrooms there is new landscaping, new roofing and new water and sewer systems.
