Everybody thinks their grandmother has the best stories, but few people can say their grandmother’s story is the subject of a published book.
One local Sunnyvale educator has co-authored a children’s book about the adventures of her sister’s grandmother-in-law, or “Grandma Stone” as she is fondly called by the family.
Alma Rogers, a third-grade teacher at Cumberland Elementary School in Sunnyvale, co-authored the book with her sister, Elesa Miner, who resides in Arizona.
The book, titled “Hummingbird in Her Pocket” is illustrated by Palo Alto artist Carol Pulliam and details Grandma Stone’s experience with nursing a hummingbird back to health, a story that she detailed in her personal journal.
